Ratalyache Poha (Sweet potato Poha)

I am interested in making Poha in different ways. This is a colourful receipe with Ratala (in marathi for sweet potato) inspired by Bee and Jai in JUGALBANDI. It added up my Poha series to count more. Here comes the receipe below. This is my entry both for Coffee's MBP -'Going lite' and for Nupur's RCI.

Ingredients
  • Riceflakes -1 cup
  • Ratala -1
  • Mustardseeds
  • Greenchili -2
  • Curry leaves 1 stick
  • Corriander leaves
  • Cumin seeds- 1/2 tsp
  • Oil 1 tblsp
  • Turmeric powder 1/4
  • Asafoetida a pinch
  • Salt for taste
  • Sugar for taste
  • Lime juice -1/2 tsp
Method

Wash the rice flakes under running water and loosen the poha with fingers.

Cut the sweet potato as small triangle or cubed.

Heat oil in a kadai and add mustard seed to splutter.

Then add cumin seeds, greenchilies, curryleaves, turmeric powder and sweet potato.

Leave the potato till tender or even you can cook it in microwave for 1 to 2 minutes in high with little water.

Then add the riceflakes and mix it up and cover with a lid. Simmer the stove for 2-3 mins . Add salt, sugar and lemon juice according to your taste.

Finally garnish with corriander leaves and serve it hot.

Note

Its a simple dish and easy to make. If poha is hard, then keep aside for about 15 minutes after washing; I took a light poha it will get soft while preparing other items for the dish.

You can even add onion if you want.
